The Last Queen- C.W. Gortner

I just finished reading this book and thoroughly enjoyed it. It is a novel of Juana of Castile (Juana la Loca) telling the story of her life in her own words. It offers a more sympathetic approach to the Queen whose name has become legend. It takes you from the Conquest of Granada through to her imprisonment. It left me pretty speechless…

Okay, so it does take liberties, but doesn’t all historical fiction? I know hardly anything about Juana, so I wouldn’t know to pick out anything but the inaccuracies mentioned in the afterword.

Take a look, you can read a preview here-
